Message The Center Force DF clutch has been great to many people, but over the years here there's been more than a handfull break or die at a very short life. Much more than any other aftermarket clutch. I could post probably 10+ examples you can find through search. With as many people that go with that clutch you might be totally fine with it. I'd recommend a JWT and there's other good ones too.
The way the flyweel works is it's constantly spinning with the motor running. When you let up the clutch it grabs the flywheel to spin your driveline (tranny gears, driveshaft, diff, half shaft). That's why if you don't give it gas and just pop the clutch, it'll kill the motor. Even though the flywheel has momentum built up, the driveline grabbing it kills all that unless you give it a little gas to build the momentum up and let the clutch out slower (letting it slip slightly). That's all in a normal take off. If the flywheel is lightened, that's less mass moving and when the clutch grabs, it's easier to stop it's momentum and kill the motor, so you have to give it a little MORE gas than with the heavy flywheel. That will make your launches slightly harder for most people. At the same time, with the lighter weight it's better for spoil and highway throttle response. If you're cruising and hit it, that lighter flywheel will spin up easier since it's lighter. With an after market clutch it can become even harder to launch. The clutch may have more force or means to grab the flywheel not allowing any slip. That's where a line is drawn on whether or not a clutch is streetable. I'm happy with my lightened flywheel and would do the mod again if I was doing the clutch and didn't have one.
